The Big Garden Birdwatch!

We have taken part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. We made our own bird feeders using cardboard rolls, lard and bird seeds. We then hung these in the trees in the outdoor area and waited for the birds to arrive. We ended up recieving a visit from two very hungry squirrels too!

Polar Explorers

This half term we have been learning all about the North and South Poles. We have been polar explorers in our role play area and researching Arctic and Antarctic animals. We used oil pastels to create. Northern Lights scene and drew and cut out our own polar bears to stick on top. We were lucky enough to experience snow in Clayton Heights and we painted the snow, practiced writing our names and made snow angels.

Witches and Wizards Day!
Fizzing Pumpkins and Bubbling Cauldrons!

We used bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and water and added them to our pumpkins. We watched it fizz all the way over the top!  We mixed paint with washing up liquid and used the bottom of a cardboard tube to print bubbles on to our cauldrons. They looked spectacular!

Christmas Tree Festival

Willow class have been to visit St James Church in Thornton for the Christmas Tree Festival. We also learned all about the church and why it is a special place. Willow are now well and truly in the Christmas spirit!

In the Woods: Little Red Riding Hood

When we arrived in class this morning we found a basket from Little Red Riding Hood! In the basket we found a red cloak, a book and some bread mix. We made bread using the bread mix and also tried to make different bread shapes using play dough, we weaved ribbon through the baskets to help build our fine motor skills and we dressed up in our role play area and retold the story…we even added some more familiar characters!
